Check out our list of the 5 South African songs you should listen to in 2021.

We would all agree that it has been a great year for music in 2021. Already, we’ve moved past the first quarter of the year, and there’s a lot of great music out now. While some have ended up topping the charts, and amassing millions of streams, some have the potential to become classics. Now, check out our list of 5 songs you should hear this year. Feel free to react in the comments section.

1. DJ Zinhle – Indlovu ft. Loyiso

DJ Zinhle is undeniably Mzansi’s queen of the Decks. The talented female hit maker has put in so much work this year. It is nice that she only drops music one at a time. It helps us enjoy what she’s released until the next comes. Since she dropped “Ndlovu” with Mzansi vocalist, Loyiso, it has been great review after another. The infectious song now lives rent free in all our heads. The way it’s going, it could match the success of “Umlilo”.

2. Elaine – Right Now

Permit us to scream “Elaine Is Back” at the top of our lungs. After practically owning the airwaves with singles from her debut EP “Elements”, the sweet-voiced singer catapulted to stardom earning SAMA nods. She also created a niche for herself in the airwaves. Finally ready for something new, she dropped her new song “Right Now” this week and it shot straight to the top of the charts. Between you and us, it is still on replay.

3. Cassper Nyovest – Angisho Guys ft. Lady Du

If it ain’t a hit, Cass isn’t dropping it. The talented muso has been on a high since the release of his critically acclaimed project “Any Minute Now”. The album spawned the hits “Good For That”, “Amademoni”, and more. It also earned him so much praise from fans. He announced he’d be back with a full Amapiano album next. He also dropped the first single “Angisho Guys” featuring Lady Du and it gained rave reviews. Some fans have called it his best Amapiano jam yet.

4. Emtee – Long Way

Emtee is on top of the world. That’s what happens when you drop one of the year’s most acclaimed projects. The talented emcee came through with the promised “Logan” album a few weeks back, and we all love it. The family-inspired album features the hit “Long Way” in which he talks about his advice to his young son on how to treat women. It was recently ranked the biggest song in Africa.

5. Big Zulu – Inhlupheko ft. Mduduzi Ncube

Big Zulu is putting in some serious work. The talented emcee is currently one of the biggest names in SA Hip Hop. Since he earned a SAMA nod last year, he has dropped the massive hit “Imali Eningi” featuring Riky Rick and Intaba Yase Dubai. He followed it up with this big hit “Inhlupheko” featuring contributions from Mduduzi Ncube. In our opinion, it is his best work yet.
