With a wide range of packages to suit the entertainment needs of their customers, DStv has brought fun to many households all over Mzansi. From the comfort of their homes, DStv customers can enjoy sports, the latest international movies, series, reality shows, kids, entertainment, lifestyle, and news.
Earlier in the year, the company released new adjustments to suit their customers’ needs. This included subscription packages, channels, etc. MultiChoice announced that “at 2.7%, the weighted adjustment across all of DStv’s offerings for 2022 is significantly lower than the projected CPI for the year.”
MultiChoice South Africa CEO Nyiro Shibiru said of the adjustments, “We realize that customers remain under pressure two years into the Covid-19 pandemic. These adjustments will help us to ensure that South Africans continue to enjoy the best value, and unrivaled access to entertainment, anywhere, anytime, and at the most affordable price,”
She continued, “We are driving the African storytelling agenda by creating locally rooted content with a growing global appeal, developing unique content that resonates with our subscribers.” She also promised more entertainment, “subscribers can look forward to more sparkling entertainment and sport like the 2022 FIFA World Cup, the Springboks’ incoming and outgoing tours, and the Rugby Championship. Customers can also look forward to continued savings thanks to discounts on our DStv Internet bundles.”
From April 1, 2022, the new adjustments kicked off. Pricing adjustments did not affect Showmax, BoxOffice, Add Movies, and Easyview subscribers. For each package that you pay once a year, you get one month free.
The newly adjusted subscription for the DStv Premium package is R839 per month. It also works out to R769 a month (R9,229 lump sum). The Premium Package offers 160 plus channels, including 38 HD and 95+ audio channels. You can also look forward to classic channels like M-Net, exclusive movie channels like M-Net Movies 1, M-Net Movies 2, and fliekNET, etc. You can view the DStv Premium on five different devices.
Its key highlights include;

- Showmax streaming service at no additional cost.

The newly adjusted subscription for the DStv Compact package is R549 per month. It also works out to R503 a month (R6,039 lump sum). Subscribing for this package gives you access to 130 plus channels, including 20 HD channels. The key package highlights include;
- Premier League, FA cup, Carabao Cup.
- International and local movies, series, and reality shows.
- All the kids and educational channels.
- The best local and international news channels.
- Wrestling and other entertainment channels.
The newly adjusted subscription for the DStv Compact plus package is R429 per month. It also works out to R393 a month (R4,719 lump sum). Subscribing for this package gives you access to 145 plus and 30 HD channels. The key package highlights include;
- Best South African TV shows
- Best football coverage, including the Champions League.
- Many more sports channels
- Award-winning documentaries.
The newly adjusted subscription for the DStv Family package is R309 per month. It also works out to R283 a month (R3,399 lump sum). Subscribing for this package gives you access to over 180 plus channels, including several audio and radio stations (both local and international). Some channels include CBS Reality, TLNovelas, Discovery TLC Entertainment, Discovery Family, TNT Africa, Africa Magic Family, Africa Magic Epic, Mzansi Wethu, Real Time, Moja Love, ZEE World, and more.

- Entertaining local and international TV shows (including reality)
- Access to documentary channels.
- Sports (three solid channels) and music shows.

The newly adjusted subscription for the DStv Premium package is R120 per month. It also works out to R110 a month (R1,320 lump sum). This package offers lesser channels than the other packages listed above. However, it features several religious channels, music channels, local and international movie channels, news channels, kids’ channels, and lots more. Some channels include BBC world News, SABC News, Newzroom Afrika, Al Jazeera, Parliamentary Service, One Gospel, Dumisa, Faith, Day Star, TBN Africa, SABC 1, SABC 2, SABC 3, e.TV, Soweto TV, Bay TV, Cape Town TV, Lesotho TV, and more.
You can add Showmax to your DStv Access package, bringing your total subscription to R214. This is an excellent option in case you want more entertainment to make up for some of the channels that it does not offer. However, you will need data to watch movies and shows from Showmax. You can also access your subscription via your phone.
How To Subscribe;
Subscribing for DStv packages is relatively easy. Note that you can do this online or offline. If you opt to do it online, note that you must use credit cards or USSD codes to make payments from your bank account. However, offline methods would need you to find the nearest DStv walk-in center near you. You would be assisted by someone who works there.
You should always check to see how much you owe before making a payment. You can do this easily by dialing *120*68584#.

It is advisable to leave your decoder on while making payment. It will be automatically activated after payment is processed.
This will be required you to dial the USSD code of the bank you use. Then carefully following the prompts and key in the correct information to make payment. This is relatively easy to do.

- Open the NedBank internet platform
- Log into your account and select eBills from the menu
- Select subscribe
- Next, select the company you’re receiving the bill from
- Check the list of subscribed bills and choose DStv
- Then, submit payment.
Unlike the other methods, payment may take up to two days to process.
The DStv App is available to make things easier for you. It helps you manage your account and carry out various self-services on your own. The app is available for all operating systems.
You can also subscribe using WhatsApp. With your smartphone, connect with the DStv WhatsApp number (060 060 3788). Then, send “Hello” once you’re connected. Next, follow whatever instructions you are given after that.
