Cast of Mzansi’s Upcoming Telenovela ‘Champions’ Unveiled

Tshedza Pictures has unveiled the stunning cast of their upcoming telenovela, “Champions.”

Through the years, Tshedza Pictures has been responsible for some of the biggest and most talked-about shows in the country. The famous production house has been behind hit TV shows like ‘The River,’ ‘Outlaws,’ ‘Adulting,’ and ‘Gqeberha: The Empire’. They are set to add to that list with the upcoming show to dominate screens soon.

The plot of the series is written on the DStv official page as this;

“In a world where the turf is tough and the stakes are high, Sne Modise (played by Joanne Reyneke) is a symbol of resilience and ambition in a male-dominated soccer empire. While battling the intense drama as the underdog, Sne stands at the top, determined to challenge the gender norms and lead the Soshanguve Giants F.C. to success. But the question remains: Can she come out on top?”

The upcoming show will reportedly feature well-known actors who have earned acclaim for their performances on the screen and some up-comers who are set to make their mark in the industry.

IOL reports that, while speaking about the upcoming show, Executive producer Phathutshedzo Makwarela said it “uniquely embodies the spirit of South Africa, aiming to inspire and excite our audience.”

Makwarela said, “It’s a celebration of ambition, positivity, and the resilience of our people. Tshedza Pictures is thrilled to collaborate again with Mzansi Magic, and we eagerly anticipate the moment our viewers will join us on this incredible journey.”

Here are the cast of the show;

Sello Maake ka-Ncube (known for his work in ’The Queen’) will play Washington Modise, “A former player-turned-entrepreneur, Washington breathed life into his own football team, Soshanguve Giants FC, steering it with a mix of shrewd business sense and a deep love for the game. His story is a compelling mix of ambition, challenge, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.”

Kgomotso Christopher (known for her performance in ’Legacy’) plays Lucinda Modise, “wife to Washington; her story is one of quiet strength, enduring support, and the influential role of a partner in the whirlwind world of success and power.”

Tumisho Masha (known for the hit shows ’Saints and Sinners’ and ‘Isibaya’) plays Philemon Modise, “Long, overshadowed by his brother Washington, he feels the world has yet to acknowledge his true worth. His narrative is one of greed, sibling rivalry, and the relentless pursuit of personal acclaim.”

Kwenzo Ngcobo (famous for the ’The Wife’) plays Zipho; DStv writes that Zipho “Stands as a titan in the space of talent management. His story is about navigating the intricate web of professional success and personal integrity in a world where both are constantly tested.”

Thembinkosi Mthembu (Famous for ’Shaka iLembe’ and ‘Adulting’) plays Ferrari. “Once the crown jewel of South African football, Ferrari now stands at a crossroads where his illustrious career faces the threat of dimming,” writes the network.

Thato Dithebe (who earned praise for ’Kokota’) will play Lebo Serite. “His aspirations to conquer the grand football stadiums and lift his family out of poverty are fuelled by a potent mix of talent, charisma, and determination.”

Jo-anne Reyneke plays Sne Modise, a symbol of resilience and ambition in a male-dominated soccer empire.

Tshedza Pictures has done it repeatedly, giving Mzansi entertaining shows with gripping storylines. The production house aims to do it again with this promising new show. The show will premiere on Mzansi Magic channel 161 on Monday, 5 February, at 7 pm (Mondays to Fridays).

In other reports, the production house has also announced plans to premier another show titled “Youngins” on Showmax on February 24. The show will star Lunga Mofokeng and Thabiso Ramotshela. They are certainly going hard this year.
