Here’s a detailed explanation of the Will Smith, August Alsina and Jada Pinkett-Smith open relationship triangle that’s got everyone on the edge of their seat.
Honestly, we didn’t see all this drama coming, but we can’t deny that we’re loving every bit of it. We thought the Smiths had enough on their plate with the YouTuber who sexualized Willow when she released her biggest hit song “Whip My Hair” at a young age. Little did we know, that R&B singer, August Alsina was going to be the new thorn in their flesh. We doubt that they saw that coming either.
Now, let’s backtrack to the moment it all began. We mean, the moment when everyone started piecing things together. That was back in March 2019, when August had released his version of Kehlani’s song “Nunya”. In the song, he talks about an actress he had a sexual relationship with who was still trying to keep tabs on his sex life.
He also released a video for the song which featured a text thread with the mystery lady named “Koren”. He sings a line “You’re just an actress putting on a show,” and sends a GIF of Jada to the woman. In the GIF, Jada’s saying “Oh, so now you gon’ front?!
The song and video brought about a lot of speculation into his relationship with Jada (due to their closeness). Fans wondered if he actually had an affair with the actress who is obviously married to Will Smith.
Now here are a few shockers; Jada’s maiden middle name is “Koren”, and August has always been known to be friends with the family. The “Testimony” singer once appeared on Jada’s Red Table Talk where he spoke about struggling with additions, while the actress spoke about struggling with a sex addiction.
Also, while celebrating Jada’s birthday in September of 2018, August referred to her as the “personification of love”, and called her the “fortune” to his cookie. That caused a lot of backlash, with many calling it an inappropriate message to a married woman.
Well, the “Nunya” song blew the lid off of it all, with fans speculating that the R&B singer had an affair with the actress. It seems he wasn’t going to let it end there. He recently gave an interview where he opened up about it all to clear his name and prove he isn’t a home wrecker.
Following the release of Alsina’s new album “The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy”, he appeared in an interview with Angela Yee which was published on YouTube. During the sit down, the topic of “Nunya” came up and he fully addressed it. He affirmed that he had a sexual relationship with Pinkett for years, and that Will Smith approved of it.
He revealed that he actually sat down and had a conversation with Will due to the transformation of their marriage to a life partnership. A partnership he revealed didn’t involve romanticism (meaning they have an open marriage). He also opened up about giving himself to the entire relationship for years, and loving Jada deeply.
He spoke about his character being questioned which is why he chose to open up about the relationship. He stated that he isn’t one for drama, “Contrary to what some people believe, I’m not a troublemaker. I don’t like drama. Drama actually makes me nauseous”. According to him, leaving the relationship was “the hardest thing I ever had to experience in this life”. He further added, “I can die right now and be okay knowing that I fully gave myself to somebody … Some people never get that in this lifetime.”
Reps for Jada Pinkett Smith on Wednesday, July 1st called Alsina’s claims about the relationship allegedly approved by Will Smith “Absolutely not true”.
