Hawks: Police Affiliation, Website, Job Requirements, Salary, Address & Contact Numbers

The Hawks

Hawks are powerful birds, able to do what many other bird species are not physically able to. Not surprisingly, because of this power, the phrase “hawk” is often used by organizations providing core intelligence and security services. It’s even used in sports.

Of course, the use of the name is not limited to a particular country or state. Around the world, the name has been deployed in security services and even among sports teams. The focus here, though, is the South African Hawks.

Who are they and what do they do? What are their affiliations? W try to answer that question and so much more in this article. So tag along for the answers if you please.

Police Affiliation

The Hawks is an arm of the South African Police Services (SAPS). This highly trained collective is often called the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI). It is, with a specific mandate to address cases where great technical expertise would be required for the cessation of crime. You may think of the Hawks as the elite division of the SAPS.

Website

Modernity stares us in the face, and any organization that refuses to adapt would become an object of mordant jibes. The police force knows this only too well. So it has a website to its name. Where the public might source details of the body as well as its future plans.

And because the Hawks is part of the police force, there is a section on the SAPS’s website dedicated to the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI).

The official website or rather link to the site is https://www.saps.gov.za/dpci/index.php

Job Requirements

For many, working at the SAPS, especially the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI). is a dream come true. But then, not everyone gets to scale through the hurdles and eventually join the force. Below we spell out the requirements if you want to be a part of the hawks.

The first requirement is to be a South African citizen. For security reasons, applications are not welcome from foreigners. Another requirement is to be at least 25 years but under 40, with documentary proof to back that up. A health questionnaire has to be completed as well – at the applicant’s cost.
