Senzo Mfundo Vilakazi popularly known by his stage name “Kwesta” is a South African award winning rapper. His genre of music is Rap and he raps in his deep voice both in his local dialect and English. Kwesta is fully signed to his own Independent and media company known as “Rap Lyf” with co-founder” Kid X”. He is popular know for his deep voice and has become one of the major names to associate with in the rap industry in South Africa.
Kwesta was born in Katlehong, Gauteng, a township also better as K-One.He attended his secondary school at Phumulani Secondary School in Katlehong for three years, and later finished at Alafang High School. In school he developed a strong love for poetry and always received encouragement and praises from his fellow students and teachers. He later developed his love for music by visiting recording studios and rapping on the streets.
Kwesta is currently married to his long time sweetheart Yolanda Mvelasi, in a wedding that was well publicized in the media and was featured on his Khetile Khetile visuals. The couples have been together for a while before finally tying the knot earlier this year.
Kwesta got his major breakthrough when he was discovered by Africa’s Most Southern Record Label. This even happened as a result of the group he joined with his friends In 2003, known as Quest, and some friends, formed a group called “Ghetto Fellaz”, which later becme known as “The Juvenylz” with an additional member. After dropping out of school at age 16 to pursue his music career fully , it was at this time he recorded his first demo in his home studio which caught the attention of the AMS record label. He later said in an interview that he owed his success to his mum who will always give him Taxi fare when going to the studio.
Kwesta since his time of debut has been able to release songs like Ngud’, Spirt, Vur Vai, Nomayini, The Fire, Spirit (feat. Wale), Afro Trap, Mayibabo, Tjovitjo, GGG, K1 GOD, Day One, Let a Nigg* Hit, Shooting Star, Tshek, Mind Fcuk just to mention a few. He has also released awesome studio albums namely, Special ReKwest, DaKAR (Da King of Afrikan Rap), DaKAR II
Kwesta has since his debut gotten himself major awards both nominations and winning some. He has also gotten himself major endorsement from Top brand all over South Africa. He has also had the opportunity to perform on stage with top African and Foreign artistes.
