Here’s a list of the top 10 SA artists with the most streams on Spotify.

As much as Mzansi loves watching their favourite artists perform Live on stage, we also love streaming their songs till kingdom come. Of course, streaming platforms are great sources of top notch music from our favourite artists and DJs.

From last year into this year, a lot of Mzansi artists had some of the biggest streams for their music. A lot of them released several new projects in 2019 like Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa who make up the Scorpion Kings, Prince Kaybee and more.

However, some haven’t really dropped any new material in a while, and still, their music is in massive demand. Popular Afrikaans rapper, Snotkop is a great example in this category. In December 2019, Spotify released a list of the top Mzansi artists with the most streams for their music on the platform.

Reigning supreme on the list is the undeniable King of Amapiano, Kabza De Small who recent reports prove is still breaking records. Now, here is a full list of the top 10 SA artists on Spotify.

1. Kabza De Small

Indeed, there is no record breaker nor pacesetter than the king of Ampiano himself, Kabza De Small. The talented muso has been consistently dropping huge hits both as a lead act and also as a member of the Scorpion King duo. He is credited for some of the biggest hits including “Encimbini”, “Love You Tonight” and more.

2. DJ Maphorisa

It is always fun to see the friendship between DJ Maphorisa and Kabza De Small. Both DJs have reaped so much from it. Their collaborative singles and solo projects as Scorpion Kings have yielded hit projects which have earned massive streams on Spotify.

Now, here’s the prince of Mzansi taking his place where he belongs. Nasty C has made Mzansi proud with all that he has achieved over time. He was named Africa’s best selling Hip Hop star in 2019. He is also SA’s most streamed rapper on Spotify too.

You’ve got to just respect this man. Over and over again, Prince Kaybee has proven that he is a DJ to count on. His album “Re Mmino” was announced to have garnered the most streams in 2019. His songs “Fetch Your Life” and “Gugulethu” have also earned some of the most streams on the platform.

Popular Afrikaans band, Spoegwolf makes an appearance at number 5 showing just how much their fans love their music. With hits including “Die Rivier”, “Lenie Blou III”, “Storm” and more, the group has gained massive streams on Spotify placing them in 5th place on this list.

6. Black Coffee

Renowned Mzansi Disc Jockey, Black Coffee is one of the country’s most celebrated DJs if not the most. The international star always earns some very impressive streams for his music. Dropping both mixes and songs, he’s been gaining a lot of love from fans. We hear he’ll be creating a new Spotify playlist each week.

7. Joyous Celebration

Popular Gospel group, Joyous Celebration is noticeably the only Gospel act on this list. It is undeniable that the group puts in so much work into releasing new music, and has a long list of projects to their name. Closing out the list is none other than the Supa Mega himself. Truly, AKA doesn’t need new music to remain at the top. You could say he is the top. The SA Hip Hop star’s music gains so much love from fans, and it tells on the amount of streams that he receives.
