Michael Owusu Addo popularly known by his stage name Sarkodie, is a prolific Rapper and performer in Ghana. His genre of music is Rap which he doesn’t in his native dialect mixing it with English.
Sarkodie is one of the top rappers in Ghana and has collaborated with top African and international artiste. He is one of the major proponents of the Azonto dance which later became popular across the world.
Sarkodie was born and raised in a city in Ghana called Tema. He has four siblings and attended his high school at the Methodist Day senior High School and later proceeded to IPMC, where he earned a degree in graphic design.
Music for him started from being an underground rapper and he later participated in the Adom FM’s popular rap competition Kasahare Level where he later met his former manager Duncan Williams who brought him into major limelite

Sarkodie’s major breakthrough came after he participated in the competition where he met his former manager who later linked him to musicians Edem and Castro, the duo later introduced him to a very successful record producer named Hammer of The Last Two, who was super impressed by his rap skills and led to him recording two tracks for his debut album.
Although Rap started as an hobby for him but he later chose to go deeper when he saw how talented he was and how people showed interest when he performs.an established record producer. Impressed by his rap flows, Hammer allowed Sarkodie to record two tracks for his album Volta Regime.
Sarkodie since his debut has released topnotch songs like Painkiller, Illuminati, Feelings, hand to mouth just to mention a few. He has also released top notch albums like the Volta Regime which have gone on to be platinum over years. His rap skills are undoubtedly excellent.
Sarkodie has won himself various awards since the time of his debut and various recognition like the BET awards recognition and other notable awards both in Ghana and Internationally. He has gotten himself various endorsement deals from top brands both in Ghana and Internationally. Sarkodie is one of the Ghanaian artistes that have carved a niche for themselves in their genre.
