Maya Christinah Xichavo Wegerif  popularly known by her stage name Sho Madjozi is a prolific rapper, singer, songwriter and poet in South Africa. Her genre is related to rap and sometimes affiliated to Gqom. She is one of the best performers in South Africa and has performed on world stage with topnotch artistes all across the world. She is known famously for her John Cena track which cut across international borders.

Sho Madjozi was born in Shirley Village, Elim, Limpopo. Her Mother ran an international organization. Sho madjozi has mixed blood in her as her mother is of African descent and her father of European descent although she was mainly brought up by her mother after her parents divorced at an early age.

She had an opportunity to travel with her father at an early because he was a frequent traveler, this led to her having her high school education in Tanzania. She was known as Maya the poet while in America for her graduate studies because she wrote poems about politics,identity and race. She later returned to South Africa for her fellowship and adopted the name Sho Madjozi upon starting to compose songs.

Sho Madjozi is known for her hairstyles which is influenced by Fulani and Tuareg Women. She embraces tradition well with her western education. Sho Madjozi has not be linked with anyone romantically in the recent years.

The singer, rapper and songwriter got her major breakthrough after her collaboration titled “Ngiyashisa Bhe” with rapper Okmalumkoolkat, the song achieved a high level of publicity all over Mzansi and she later released a follow up to it titled “Gqi”. Although she had started has a poet but she claimed rap for her happened accidentally. She has gone on to release other chart topping songs since her debut.

She has released topnotch songs like John Cena, Huku, Don’t tell me what to do, Wakanda forever just to mention a few. This songs have gone on to top major charts and have travelled all across international borders.

Since her debut, she has gone on to win herself major awards and recognition both at home and abroad. Her song John Cena got so popular that it was featured on the Ellen show with “John Cena” giving dance move to it. John Cena has also used the song has the entrance song for his fights. She has gotten herself major endorsement deals from top brands in South Africa and internationally.
