Top 10 Afrobeats Songs 2019

We are ready to jump into the list of top 10 songs of 2019. Yeah, the year is not over yet and yes, we risk pissing off those who disagree but then, something must kill a man, so we’re going to go ahead and do it anyway.

We start the countdown now. If you agree, let us know. If you don’t, well, there’s nothing we can do about that. In no particular order, these are our top 10 Afrobeats songs of 2019 so far.

10. Dumebi – Rema

Rema has been a revelation since he burst onto the scene. Iron Man stays one of his best songs and even made the Barack Obama and wife list of top summer songs, but it is Dumebi we are interested in here.

The song has a subtlety and depth that appear beyond the years of the singer. He’s settling well in Mavins and we hope to see more from him.

9. Rayvanny – Tetema ft Diamond Platnumz

When Tanzanian singer, Rayvanny dropped Tetema in February, it is doubtful that even he realized what he had just done. But months later, the song has not just taken root, it has gotten covers, as well as international remixes and African remixes that had some of the best names on it. It’s one of 2019’s best.

8. Soapy – Naira Marley

Naira Marley has been a very controversial figure this year but he has also been one of those whose songs have gone viral. His Soapy song was one of those songs that went viral earlier in the year. It deserves the spot on this list.

7. Balance – Timaya

Timaya‘s “Balance” is another song that’s deserving of a spot on this list. The Egberi papa 1 of Bayelsa came through on this song. He has always been one of the top names in the industry and on the song, he reminded us why.

6. Jealous – Fireboy

Since YBNL‘s wonderboy, Fireboy came to the scene, he has been belting out winning tunes. But it was Jealous that launched him into limelight. There has been no looking back for the talented singer since then. Jealous will give a lot of songs a run for the best song this year and this spot is well deserved.

5. Mavins – All is in Order

When long time member of the Mavins Records, Tiwa Savage left the label, there was a need to reassert the fact that all was still well with the label and what better way could there have been than by releasing a song titled “All Is In Order” that had artistes from the label weigh in.

That song was where Crayon was introduced to the music world and we love it.

4. Olamide – Woske

Olamide is easily one of the biggest names on the scene. A godfather of street music, he showed us some real chops in the music video of this one as well as reassuring us that he is still street and has the slangs locked down. Good song, this one. One of 2019’s biggest.

3. Davido ft Chris Brown – Blow My Mind

This is a recent one that had Davido linking up with Chris Brown and well, you can’t fault us for adding it to the list. Easily one of Davido‘s best outings this year, we love it and insist it is part of the best ones of the year.

2. Wizkid x Olamide x ID Cabasa – Totori

What do you call a song that has Olamide and Wizkid on it? Hit! When you now add the fact that a veteran like ID Cabasa is on it, you know exactly why this made the list. This song is where Totori slang was born. Solid song here.

1. Burna Boy – Anybody

Is there a question around this? As a matter of fact, we could easily list a number of Burna Boy songs that made this list but we’ll go with this. This song captures an inner fighter and this was where he bared fangs and connected with that africanness. We love it and say it is one of the best songs so far.

Agree with out list? Disagree? Let’s hear it.
