Edrisah Musuuza popularly known by his stage name Eddy Kenzo is an award winning prolific singer, songwriter and performer from Uganda. His genre of music is Afro-pop. Eddy Kenzo was born in the late 80’s in a small village in Uganda called Masaka. He spent most of his years living on the street owing the date of his mother when he was just a small child. At first Eddy Kenzo wanted to be a footballer and actually joined a football club which led to him receiving football grant which he used to sponsor his study but for some reason didn’t complete his studies because music found him.
Eddy Kenzo started his journey into the musical scene by participating in street talent shows and performing at the pubs. His breakthrough into the Ugandan music scene came in 2008 when he released his first song titled “Yanimba” which saw him team up with Mikie wine. He later gained more prominence when he released “Stamina”, a song which was later used as a theme song by many Ugandan politicians during the general election in 2011. He continued releasing hit songs after this which further boosted his recognition in the Ugandan music scene and all across Africa. His first major breakthrough internationally came with the release of his single “Sitya Loss” in 2014.
Eddy Kenzo has been able to release hit singles like Soraye, Mbilo Mbilo, Stamina just to mention a few. He has also released hit making studio albums with the titles Biology, Sitya Loss and Zero to Hero which have gone on to achieve platinum sale status. His songs have also been used in movie soundtracks and has major humanitarian theme songs.
Eddy Kenzo since the time of his debut have gone on to win himself various award recognition with his most significant ones been the Nickelodeon kids’ choice award and the BET award. He has also gotten himself various endorsements from top brands all across Africa. Eddy Kenzo also runs his personal record label which aims at sorting out talents in Uganda. Eddy Kenzo has also been involved in a lot of humanitarian services for poor children in Africa.
