Gqom Songs – Best Of All Time

It’s almost the end of 2019 and we are sampling some of the top Gqom songs that we got to groove to so far. Some of them were released last year and some this year.

10 is just a restrictive number, so if you can’t find your best song there, simply drop it in the comment section. We’ll acknowledge it.

10. ‘Banomoya’ by Prince Kaybee ft Busiswa, TNS

The song had Prince Kaybee link up with Busiswa and TNS on it and was released last year. It was subsequently named on lists made by Fakaza and Music in Africa as one of the top 10 Gqom songs of 2018. We think it’s awesome too.

9. ‘Orkant/Balance Pon It’ by Major Lazer ft Babes Wodumo, Taranchyla

This is another song that made the list. A song originally owned by Major LazerBabes Wodumo and Taranchyla came on this and made magic happen and we think it deserves a space on this list.

8. ‘Bamthatile’ By Sun-el Musician Ft. Mlindo The Vocalist

This song from Sun-El Musician came through as one of 2018’s best. The presence of Mlindo The Vocalist on it helped too and with over 3 million views on YouTube, it deserves a spot here.

7. ‘That’s for Me’ by Vanessa Mdee ft. Distruction Boyz, DJ Tira and Prince Bulo

Not many were sure what was going on when Tanzanian songstress, Vanessa Mdee announced she had a Gqom song coming through. I mean, this has been a genre owned mainly by South African artistes, but she did well on it. Having gqom maestros like Distruction Boyz, DJ Tira and Prince Bulo on it is a win too.

6. ‘Ndakwenza Ntoni’ by NaakMusiQ and Bluelle

This song by NaakMusiQ and Bluelle actually has a shot at being the biggest gqom song of 2019. Delivered to perfection by the duo, this song is a natural for a list like this.

5. ‘Gugulethu’ by Prince Kaybee ft. Indlovukazi, Supta and Afro Brothers

Second appearance on this list, yeah, but Prince Kaybee never disappoints. While he gave us one of the top gqom songs last year, this May, he served another one titled “Gugulethu” and had Indlovukazi, Supta and Afro Brothers on it.

4. ‘Inkonjane’ by DJ Mphyd and Tipcee ft. DJ Tira and Dladla Mshunqisi

Producer and singer, DJ Mphyd came through strongly on this one as she collaborated with DJ Tira and Dladla Mshunqisi to serve us the cool song. We love it and it’s cool to have it on this list.

3. ‘Uniform’ by Zulu Mkhathini ft DJ Tira

This 2018 song from Zulu Mkhathini also had DJ Tira on it. He knows his way around music so it’s not really a surprise to see him on a number of these top songs.

2. ‘Qolo Lami’ by Sparks Bantwana ft. DJ Sox

When Sparks Bantwana decided to drop Qolo Lami, we knew this was definitely something special and we were not proved wrong as it ruled the airwaves.

1. Lady Zamar – Collide

Lady Zamar’s song was one of the highflights of 2018 as it went viral. In fact, it emerged as one of the most played songs of 2018 and we’re still grooving today.
