1. Kabza De Small

Kabza De Small has maintained his place as the biggest Amapiano hitmaker in the country. Last year, he collaborated on the hits “Asibe Happy” and “Abalele” with Ami Faku and DJ Maphorisa, and “Adiwele” with Young Stunna. The songs have still dominated 2022. He has also followed up with new releases and mixes with Mdu aka TRP, Boohle, Mhaw Keys, and more.

2. Dj Maphorisa

Fans of DJ Maphorisa know him to be one of the hardest working hitmakers on the scene. Whether under the alias, Madumane or simply Phori, Maphorisa always dominates the airwaves with hits. He is currently on a European and Puerto Rican tour which has been going great. He has also appeared in a number of new collaborations.

3. Busta 929

Although Busta 929 has been in the news for the wrong reasons, the Mzansi star always gains praise for his music. His project “Umsebenzi Wethu EP” was certified multi-platinum. He also dominated the airwaves with the third installment of his project “Undisputed Vol 3” and the fans have not been able to get enough of it. We hear he’s got bigger plans for the year.

4. Young Stunna

Last year, Young Stunna surfaced out of nowhere on the wings of Kabza De Small and DJ Maphorisa and became one of the year’s biggest successes. He dropped the chart-topping debut album “Notumato” and gained praise for it. He kicked off 2022 with the most played song on South African Radio “Adiwele” featuring Kabza De Small. And yes, he has appeared in many new entries too.

5. De Mthuda

Mzansi DJ and producer, De Mthuda is everything a hitmaker should be. Undeniably one of the most consistent on the scene, Mthuda has dropped new entries and mixes with Sam Deep, Nomfundo Moh, and more. He also recently contributed to a majority of the tracks on Kwiish SA’s new album “Umshiso, Vol 2”.

6. Major League DJz

The Major League DJz have maintained their place as one of the country’s most entertaining hitmakers. After a successful tour last year, the talented duo continued their “Amapiano Live Balcony Mix” series with new episodes featuring DBN Gogo, Kabza De Small, and more. They have also dropped a new installment of the “Piano City” mix and worked with LuuDaDeejay and Balcony Mix Africa on “War”.

7. Lady Du

After being crowned the Queen of Amapiano by De Mthuda last year, Lady Du continued to put in work this year. The Piano star has collaborated with DJ Hlo, Pabi Cooper, and more. Her hit song “I Did It (Bum Bum)” also gained more love this year. We hear she has a collab with Nigerian Afrobeats star, Davido coming soon.

8. Boohle

“Siyathandana” star, Boohle has remained an amazing singer to follow this year. She has gained more praise in the industry collaborating on new songs with Kabza De Small, Mdu aka TRP, Gaba Cannal, and more. She recently collaborated with Mellow & Sleazy on “Ungowami” featuring Dinky Kunene & Djy Ma’Ten.

9. Nkosazana Daughter

Last year, Nkosazana Daughter gained praise for her efforts on the scene. This year, she has not relented, putting in more work and appearing on new collabs. She joined Kabza De Small on “My Dali” and appeared as a featured singer on the 9th episode of the “Piano City’s series by the Major League DJz. She has multiple collabs with Kabza dominating the airwaves.

10. Mellow & Sleazy

Undeniably the most talked-about duo in the country right now, this list would not be perfect without them. While they have continued to deliver, fans are anticipating the release of their new EP. They have dished jams with Focalistic, Daliwonga, Sir Trill, Murumba Pitch, and more. We can’t wait to see what more they have up their sleeves.
