Phumulani Asnath Radebe known professionally as Bucy Radebe is a popular South African Gospel artist who started out as a backup vocalist. Bucy was born on March 16th, 1987 at Maboloka near Brits in North-West. She was raised by her single mother Mme Esther Radebe.
Bucy started singing as early as age 3. This is majorly because she was born in a musical family which hugely influenced her. In 1997, she joined the Mafumbuka Primary School choral choir at the age of 10. This helped hone her singing talent. However, her love for music grew to new heights when she joined Botse Botse High School.
In a bid to embrace music further, she became a member of her church youth choir AFM (House of Praise in Mabopane). She also participated in all the musical activities held in church. She later joined Kopano Chorus in 2007, and Opera Africa in 2008. Bucy also did productions including Aida, Princes Magogo, La-Bohem, La-traviata, Carmen, Requiem CMass and Ziyankomo.
In 2012, Bucy Radebe sang at the SA’s Youth Awards under the leadership of Joel Maphosa. Also, in the same year, she began working with Tebs David. Tebs introduced her and some other vocalists to Apostle Solly Mahlangu of whom. From 2013 till date, they have appeared as his backup vocalists. With Solly Mahlangu, Bucy has travelled to and minister in various other African countries including Zimbabwe, Swaziland, Botswana, Lesotho, Tanzania, Kenya and Rwanda. She also contributed backing vocals to Takie’s first album “Realibua Jesu”. She has also worked with Mmatema Moremi, Ntate Mahlangu, and Zaza.
In 2018, Bucy was recruited to be part of Spirit of Praise 7 choir. In 2019, she embarked on her solo career. She began recording her debut album “Spiritual Encounter” on November 2019, and released it in 2020.
She began answering Busi after her family and people in the music fraternity called her by the name. She finally officially adopted the name, Bucy Radebe as her stage name.
Bucy Radebe is married to her Executive producer and manager, Thapelo Thoboke.

Bucy Radebe released her debut studio album months after embarking on a solo career. She left the Spirit of Praise 7 choir at the time. The album titled “Spiritual Encounter” was released in March 2020, and features 17 solid tracks including the fan favourite “Uzugcin’impilo Yam'”.
