Biography

Buhle Samuels is a popular South African actress best known for a role as Matshidiso on the SABC 2 soap opera, Muvhango. She is also a singer signed under Arthur Mafokate’s 999, and is regarded as one of the best dancers in South Africa.

Buhle is the last of 2 children. Her older sister is named Mbali Samuels. She and her sister were born and raised in Soweto. She is said to have owned a mobile beauty shop before getting her big break.

Buhle Samuels is yet to make the exact estimate of her net worth public. However, she is believed to be one of the successful actresses in South Africa. As at 2018, Information Cradle estimated her worth to be between $100,000 – $500,000. In 2020, the estimate was changed to around $1 million. Buhle is yet to confirm any of these estimates.

Acting Career

Buhle was initially known for hosting the Breakfast Show on Africa Magic. In 2014, she got her big break when she landed the role of “Matshidiso Mofokeng” on the SABC 2 Soap opera, “Muvhango”. The show’s producers had seen her audition for Lion King and felt she would be the perfect fit for the new show. Buhle also revealed that she had to go through 3 more intense auditions before she landed the role.

Her perfect execution of the role led her to become a fan favourite and earned her a “Best Newcomer” nomination at the 2nd Annual Royalty Soapie Awards in 2015. She lost to Izak Davel who plays Bradley Haines in SABC 3’s Isidingo.

Buhle left Muvhango after four seasons. According to her, it was to experience change and adventure. She also stated that she wanted to work on her music career. She revealed in an interview that she enjoyed playing Matshidiso because it was the entire opposite of who she was in real life.

In 2019, she joined the cast of the hit eTV soap, Imbewu: The Seed, where she plays the role of Zandile. Zandile is described as a “beauty with high standards and good moral code”. She is kind, supportive, and also assertive. She is an independent woman who knows how to put Ngcolosi in his place.

Buhle stated in an interview on MetroFM that she would like to direct films, and grow as an individual in the Entertainment industry.

Buhle Samuels has not had any children. During the lockdown in 2020, she tweeted that it would “be a great time to have a baby – sort of. No fomo. No need to dress up. Time at home with your loved ones. Sounds not too bad,”.

Buhle has not said much about her house. However, in January 2020, she took to Twitter to reveal that her place had been broken into. According to her tweet, she wasn’t home at the time of the breaking in but was left to fix and clear things that the robbers left behind. Reports stated that her neighbours intervened before the thieves could take anything of value.
