Don Jazzy Biography
Don Jazzy is a singer and record producer of Nigerian provenance. Born Michael Collins Ajereh in Umuahia, Don Jazzy was initially part of the record label Mo’Hits, which he reportedly founded in collaboration with his friends.
He might be counted among the musicians who started their musical careers quite early. He was said to have had an aptitude for music and learned to play different musical instruments at an early age.
He had gone to the United Kingdom, reportedly n an uncle’s invitation. There, he had honed his musical skills. Back in Nigeria, the idea of Mo’Hits had flowered quickly.
When the label disintegrated, Don Jazzy had founded Mavin Records. At the time , he had affirmed his faith in the record label becoming the leading musical force in Africa’s music space – a dream that has since come to pass, thanks to a singular dedication to the art.
Born in 1982, Don Jazzy is currently 38 years. He’ll be 39 in November.
Don Jazzy is one of the wealthiest musicians in Africa and , according to a Forbes report, the richest in Nigeria as at 2020. The Forbes richest African musicians list of 2020 has Don Jazzy at No. 4, with a net worth of $30 million.
Don Jazzy has several houses in Nigeria. Back in 2019, he had unveiled the corporate headquarters of his Mavin Records label on the island. In February this year, he had shown off a new apartment at Pinnock Beach Estate in Lekki.
In Lagos alone, Don Jazzy says he has about five properties. It is unknown in which other states he has properties, but the bod is sure living the life.
If there’s one aspect of his life he has managed to keep away from the public for a long time, it is marital life. It remained locked until just recently, when the Don opened up to the world in what he described as his personal response to his “BlackBox interview” with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu.
Apparently Don Jazzy had gotten married (to Michelle Jackson) at the age of 20 but he wasn’t ready for marital life at the time. Consumed by his music and unwilling to give it up for anything, he divorced Michelle Jackson two years later, at the age of 22.
He took full responsibility for the collapse of his marriage, though.
Curious who Don Jazzy’s girlfriend might be? Well, you’re not alone. But that information is something the music producer is keeping close to his chest. In different interviews, he had made it clear he would be keeping this aspect of his life to himself.
And for those who have been asking him to get married, he had made it clear that his focus is on the music at the moment. According to him, those urging him to go get married would also be the first to criticize him if he neglects his family to focus on the music. So he would rather focus on the music and settle the marriage thing when he is truly ready. The time is not now.
A lover of the good life, Don Jazzy has a splendid car collection that includes a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, a Cadillac Escalade, a Mercedes Benz G Wagon, a Range Rover Sport, a Porsche 911 Carrera, and a Toyota Prado.
Don Jazzy has a younger brother who is also a musician. D’Prince (real name Charles Enebeli) shares Don Jazzy’s humorous personality as well. Although it is obvious Don Jazzy got into music before earlier, D’Prince would joke that he taught his elder brother how to produce.
D’Prince’s career beginnings dates back to 2005 when Don Jazzy, on return from the United Kingdom, urged him to join the newly formed Mo’ Hits record label. Seven years later, in 2012, he released and album titled “Frenzy.” Interesting, Mo’Hits disintegrated the same year.
At the moment, the Prince runs Jonzing World, a record label and artiste management agency that has brought to light artistes like Rema and Ruger.
Looking for Don Jazzy’s personal contact number, huh? You’re on a long thing, mate – as the saying goes. The songster and celebrated record producer has not made his number public.
