EMTEE’S BIOGRAPHY

Born 17 September 1992, Mthembeni Ndevu popularly known by his stage name Emtee, is a prolific South African rapper, music producer, singer and songwriter. His genre of music is Rap which he does both In English and his local dialect. He is popular for his debut hit single titled “Roll Up”. Emtee initially signed to Ambitiouz Entertainment left the record label to start his own record label.

FAMILY AND BEGINNING

Emtee was born in a small town called Matatiele, in Eastern Cape, South Africa. He was born to Phathiswa and Lumkile Ndevu. They later moved to Rockville in South Africa, Living all his life in a major in Guateng. Music for him started at a very early age in High School. He noticed his love for his rap talent and decided to pursue it

Emtee has two sons, the first which he gave birth to in 2015, named Avery, which is also the title for his debut album. Now he and his baby mama have another son together.

EDUCATION

Emtee after leaving Matatiele was enrolled in the Yeoville Primary School. Although he was not a very bright student, he opted not to repeat his finals, in which he ended up with a pass. The pass wasn’t actually good enough to get him a place in college. His music career started in primary School when he performed on stage in his school at the age of 9.

MUSICAL MILESTONE

Emtee got his first music break from the release of his hit song “Roll Up” which was a track from his first studio album “Avery. The song brought him into the major light in the music scene and won him various nominations and awards. Although music for him started at a very early age, he did his first performance in primary school and seeing the reception he got decided to channel his energy into developing his talent.

After performing in some mini shows in South Africa, he got noticed by Ambitiouz entertainment and got signed on as an artiste.Since his debut he has featured major South African artistes on his songs and even gotten featured. He collaborated with rapper Maraza on the song “In it to win” and this got him his major appearance on Channel O.

Before he started singing as a solo artiste, he was a member of the rap trio “African Trap Movement”, alongside Sjava, Saudi and Ruff all signed under Ambitiouz Entertainment. Since the release on Roll Up, he has gone on to release other tracks and has 4 albums to his name.

After working with Ambitiouz Entertainment for years, he shocked his fan when he announce in August 2019 that he was leaving the record label and in the following month, he established his own record label tagged “Emtee Records” under his company, African Trap Movement.

Avery is his first studio album that was released officially on the 4^th of December, under Ambitiouz Entertainment. The album was dedicated to his son, who is also named Avery. This album upon released became the most stream on major music platforms and after a while it was certified platform by RISA on the 1^st of July 2016. The album had notable songs like Roll up, Pearl Thusi, Ngeke and We Up on it.

DIY EP (2015)

This served as his second studio project which is an extended play. The EP was released July 2015 under Dogmow Studios and received an awesome reception from his fans.

This served as his third studio project. The album was released on the 15^th of September 2017 under the Ambitouz Entertainment label. The album received an awesome reception from his fans.
