Lindiwe Sisulu Biography
Lindiwe Sisulu is a South African politician and daughter of the late anti-apartheid activist Walter Sisulu.
Given her illustrious family history, it was inevitable he should find her way into politics early and snap an important government position too.
She had served as Minister of Human Settlements, Water and Sanitation of South Africa before her current appointment as Minister of Tourism.
A lover of education, the minister did not only obtain advanced qualifications but was also, at some point, a lecturer at the Department of History of the University of Swaziland.
Her published works include the following:
- Themes in the Twentieth Century South Africa, Oxford University Press. 1991
- Women Working Conditions in South Africa, South African Situation Analysis.
- South African Women in Agricultural Section (pamphlet). York University in 1990
- Women at Work and Liberation Struggle in the 1980s
- Housing Delivery and the Freedom Charter: the Beacon of Hope, New Agenda and Second Quarter. 2005
- National Children’s Rights Committee. UNESCO. 1992

Lindiwe Sisulu’s only known husband was Rok Ajulu, a professor of Kenyan provenance. Lindiwe and her man shared a deep bond, and they remained together until he died in 2017 after a protracted battle with cancer.
Given that the minister is still looking as young and charming as ever, other men may have been showing interest in her since her husband’s death. However, there’s no evidence that she has remarried since the death of Prof. Rok Ajulu.
Lindiwe Sisulu’s daughter is a lady called Ayanda Sisulu-Dunstan, a graduate of Wellesley College and co-head of Debt Capital Markets at Rand Merchant Bank. Not long ago, she was involved in some drama when it was revealed that he’d fired her house help, Minenhle Mabangu, without notice.
The house help had reportedly forgotten her puppy in the car. And Ayanda was furious.
