Mayihlome Tshwete is a South African media personality, politician, and the son of two political figures, one of whom is now late.
The first of three children, Mayihlome Tshwete, had his primary and secondary education in Eastern Cape and then pursued a degree in business administration.
Like his father before him, Mayihlome Tshwete developed an interest in politics and joined the ruling African National Congress alongside his younger brother Lindela. Soon after, he was given a political appointment and worked closely with the then-minister of home affairs, Malusi Gigaba.
He would resign from the position much later – on his terms. Still, the department spoke highly of him and wished him the best going forward.

Mayihlome Tshwete’s relationship has been of great public interest since 2017. Zizo and Mayihlome Tshwete had reportedly met during a birthday party at the home of South Africa’s former home affairs minister Malusi Gigaba.
She had reportedly played hard to get, but Mayihlome Tshwete wouldn’t give up. Along the line, a friendship had developed. And according to reports, they had gotten married but started having issues almost immediately.

After a stint in that role, he had been appointed minister of safety and security. Steve died on 26 April 2002 at the age of 63 from complications arising from severe backache, pneumonia, and kidney failure.
At his death, the South African flag was flown at half-mast and he was given a state funeral.
Pamela Tshwete is the widow he left behind. She’s a member of the National Assembly of South Africa. She was previously deputy minister of water and sanitation in South Africa. She is currently the deputy minister of human settlement, water, and sanitation.
