Nandi Madida. There you have the lady who was previously known as Nandi Mngoma. Born 32 years ago in the KwaZulu-Natal province to a doctor father and a lawyer mother, the singer had a good start early in life.

As a kid, she was already singing,  anchoring events, and acting. Although success came early for her as a singer, it did not distract her from pursuing a university education. She studied law after her mother at the University of KwaZulu-Natal.

It has been reported that her initial plan was to study journalism. When that didn’t work out, she had to take up an alternative that resonated with her. Interestingly, not many of her fans know she is a lawyer. She is most famous as a television presenter and singer. She won her first SAMA (South Africa Music Award ) this year for “Say U WIll,” her collaborative work with K.O.

Recently, the two applied to have their marriage contract changed from “in community of property” to “out of community of marriage.”

In layman’s language, this means that previously all assets and liabilities of each partner, even before marriage were merged into a joint estate with each partner entitled to half of it. But they have since applied to change this to the opposite: “out of community of marriage.”

The two are among South Africa’s most loved couples. At the time of the change of their marriage contract, people had speculated they were getting divorced, which wasn’t correct.

But if they should decide to separate or divorce in the future, the “out of community of marriage” contract will make things easier for each partner.

Children

In that order, Nandi Madida and Zakes Bantwini have two children: a son and a daughter. Their son, named for the great Zulu king Shaka (“the unshakeable, thunder while sitting, son of Menzi”), is three years old. He came a year after their marriage.

Nefertiti is a fitting name for their daughter, who is now a year old, for a “king” deserves a “queen.” Nefertiti was the Great Royal Wife of Pharaoh Akhenaten and a queen of the 18th Dynasty of Ancient Egypt.

According to online reports, Nandi Madida is worth between $400,000 – $500,000. She has reached this estimated net worth over the course of her career as a TV host, a presenter, a music artist, an actress and a social media influencer.

Black Is King & Music Career

Nandi Madida began her music career when she was a kid and has evolved markedly as a singer. That’s not all. She also started her acting and presenting careers when she was a kid.

She won a talent search as a kid, which opened the doors to regular performance at Gateway Mall. Then, in 2011, following the release of her single “Tonight,” she shot to fame as a singer.

Back in 2004, at 15, she hosted a show called Bling on SABC2, which informed children about music, movies, and other issues of interest. The intervening years would see her host other shows, including All Access Mzansi and the reality series Coke Studio.

She was one of the South Africans featured in Beyoncé’s Black is King flick, where she played the role of Nala. Playing that role was one of her biggest career wins, and she admitted she was sincerely excited about it. You can watch her discuss her role in the Expresso interview below.

Following her outing on the Black Is King flick, Nandi Madida bought a new Mercedes Benz SUV, celebrating with a comment indicating her joy in finally joining Mzansi celebs with Mercs (Mercedes).
