Nomcebo is right now one of the buzzing figures in South African music. So we thought you might want to know a thing or two about the songstress who has been on the music scene for several years.
Said to have been born some 27 years ago, Nomcebo would tell anyone who cares to listen that she found music – or her singing gift, if you please – quite early. Those who doubted her where shocked when she won the talent search show mechanized by Ukhozi FM 2003.
She had been in winning form since, wooing fans with hit after hit, including the soaraway “Imizamo Yami.”
Her fame became international this year following the superlative global success of “Jerusalema,” Master KG’s work on which she featured. Many believe that song should have been nominated for a SAMA (South Africa Music Awards) this year and were outraged it didn’t
To some artistes, awards are like diadems on the head – a testament to what an artiste can accomplish with his or her talents. Well, Nomcebe has done pretty much for music and has been rewarded accordingly.

An interesting thing about this award is that it also has Zahara and Nhlanhla Nciza as part of the nominees. Zahara has gone on to a successfulmsolo career. On her part, Nhlanhla Nciza has found fame as part of the South African group Mafikizolo.
Some consider education the ultimate crown on an artiste, others think otherwise, preferring to put the crown on musical talent. Either way, Nomcebo just cannot be ignored.
She is said to have studied information technology. The college of her scholarship eludes the public, though. That notwithstanding, the songstress, a fine conversationalist, sounds educated in her speech. She’s actually a delight to communicate with
For one who has recorded successes with her songs, Nomcebo isn’t doing badly financially. Like her relationship, her net worth has been a subject of speculation. However, our investigation reveal that she is worth about R2 million.
Not the greatest sum, perhaps. But with a talent such as hers, we call only say greater days lie ahead for the songstress. This shouldn’t be in doubt to any keen follower of hers.
Unlike some famous figures who are quick to tell you they are not the marrying types, Nomcebo is said to be open to matrimonial agreements. Right now, however, she is not married.
However, because of her sterling collaborations with celebrated Limpopo artiste Master KG, speculations have been rife that they two are dating. But are they? She wouldn’t confirm this.
If you have a crush on her, you might go ahead and “shoot your shot” as they say. Who knows? You just might “wing” a bird.
Age & Kids
Nomcebo is said to be 27 years this year. Children? Last we checked, she doesn’t have them yet, although having them might be part of her plan for the future.
By the way, although she lacks kids at the moment, she isn’t lacking in kid fans. Her fans transcend all ages, as should be apparent from an encounter at the mall (Spar Supermarket) about a week ago.
A kid had run up to her and asked if she could take a picture with “Jerusalema.” Well that’s not a person but a song. The kid had apparently been vibing with it. At any rate, she ended up having a picture with her music hero (Nomcebo). See the heartwarming clip below.
