Biography
Nyamari Ongegu popularly known as Nyanshinski is a well known Kenyan singer, songwriter, and rapper. He first attained recognition as a member of the group, Kleptomaniax alongside Collo (Collins Majale) and Roba (Robert Manyasa).
The group which was formed while they were in high school went on to become a household name in Kenya. They released a number of singles including “Freak It” and more. In the 2010s, Nyanshinki quit the group and began a solo run, releasing his debut solo album in 2020. The project was praised for defining him as a solo artist.
When the group was formed, they decided to brand themselves, and opted to record at Ogopa DJs label. Following the success of their first song “Freak It” in 2002, the group was motivated to release more music and subsequently snagged a number of awards. In 2002, and 2003, they won Favourite Male Group at the Chat Awards.
In 2006, Nyanshinki and his family moved to the US making him quit the group. After working as a Lorry driver for 10 years in the US, he returned to Kenya and embarked on a solo career. He is currently ranked among Kenya’s biggest Hip Hop artists.
