Biography
Ricardo Moloi is a South African rapper, and dancer, known for his athleticism. He started out as a dancer winning Best Male Dancer in the St. Peter’s National Dance Tournament at the age of 15. He has also competed for South Africa’s National Athletics youth team, and been in several dance competitions as a member of the dance group, Freeze Flame.
He is arguably one of the best rappers in South Africa, having released several songs both as a signed artist, and also as an independent act.
Family & Beginnings
Ricardo Moloi was born in Luanda, Angola to mother, Santa Maria Dumingez (a native of Angola) and father, Lebone Moloi (South African). His family later moved to Meadowlands, later Kempton Park, South Africa where he was raised. He has revealed that he grew up in a poor home, once stating that he lived in his grandmother’s garage with his parents.
Ricardo credits his father, Lebone to have introduced him to Hip Hop in the form of Tupac’s music. He revealed he was in grade 4 and doing school project on the “Black Panther” Black Power African American Civil Rights Movement. Tupac’s parents were part of the movement.
After competing in several athletic and dance competitions as a teenager, Priddy Ugly joined the Krunk Era (later called Blaque). He was later signed to Aviator Management as a solo artist, after which he joined Ambitiouz Entertainment leading to a rise in popularity. He left Ambitiouz Entertainment to become an independent artist again. He has released a few mixtapes / albums, as a solo act, as Rick Jade (With Bontle Modiselle), and also as part of a label.
Priddy Ugly was the first ever ambassador for International lifestyle company, Diesel. He is also the ambassador for premium flavoured beer with tequila flavour, Liberado.
Education
Priddy Ugly has not said much about his education. He has only stated that he attended the Moroko Swallows Academy, and narrated events that took place while he was in school.
Musical Milestones
Priddy Ugly joined Hip Hop dance crew Freeze Flame at the age of 15. The crew won Strictly Hip Hop and various other competitions. He competed in the St. Peter’s National Sance Tournament, at 15 and won the award for Best Male Dancer.
In 2007, Priddy Ugly joined the Krunk Era, a boy group which was later remained Blaque. The group was signed by the H.U.G.E Entertainment by Vusi Leeuw. In 2010, after signing to Aviator Management as a solo artist, he released some of his first songs through the agency. In 2012, a compilation album, “The Take Off” which contained some of his songs was released by Aviator Management artists.
Also in 2012, he released his debut mixtape as a solo artist titled “The Ugly Truth”. He gained a lot of popularity after the release of the mixtape causing a boost to his solo career. Also, his brief stint with Ambitiouz Entertainment added to his popularity in 2016, after which he went back to being an independent artist again.
Priddy Ugly has gone on to release some amazing music both as a solo rapper and in collaboration with various other artists including Shane Eagle. He has also teamed up with his wife, Bontle Modiselle to form the duo, Rick Jade. As Rick Jade, the duo released the “D.N.A” album which featured several other artists including Focalistic and more.
