He clarified, saying, “Some people think I am a foreigner, but I was born in Limpopo in Ga-Kgapane. My names are Shona, and the Chivaviro surname has nothing to do with my father’s Zimbabwean roots, but my mom is muVenda. My surname means a place where kings gather for their meeting.”

Ranga Chivaviro was born to a South African mother and a Zimbabwean father. He was raised as a South African and has stood by his roots.

He told The South African in June 2023, “I was in Joburg earlier on to see my mom because she is in Joburg …I went to Joburg because my mom said she wants to see and my daughter stays with her. There were some documents I needed to sign for my daughter.
