It’s a solemn moment as Cassper Nyovest initiates a “Piano Prayer” with his friends and associates Abidoza, Kammu Dee, Lady Du, Ma Lemon and Semi Tee.
“Piano Prayer” might be the title of this song, but Cassper Nyovest is on no proselytizing journey. If he was, the song would have ended up a number for a yawn fest. But Cass spared his listeners that. The result is worth possessing.
The track is also easily recognizable because it is one for which the Family Tree rapper co-opted several guests. Once again, fortunately, the guests did not spoil the broth, many though they might be.
One thing that’s unmistakable about the guest list is that it is made up of high-flying figures from South Africa’s amapiano orbit. Here, it might be said they had a good time spitting their bars.
“Piano Prayer” is a song with depth, latent with soul-lifting melodies. It’s something worthy of a place on a playlist.
