South African disc jockey and producer DJ Raybel croons “Amabhodlela” alongside associates Cuba Q, SburhAiirsh and Nyosi RSA. It’s a meeting of local voices, but their offering is potent enough to snap attention beyond the borders of Mzansi.
DJ Raybel calls the shots at the decks and turntables, but he’s also a musician who can snap attention with his singing. This much should be obvious with “Amabhodlela.” While it’s unclear why he decided to work with Cuba Q, SburhAiirsh and Nyosi RSA. There’s no denying he did well with the trio.
However, one peeve we wouldn’t let slide is how the lead singer failed to see the importance of sharing the song’s artwork on his Instagram page. That alone would have been a significant source of promotion. Clearly, some musicians don’t get it.
Anyway, “Amabhodlela” is energizing enough to make you want to adopt it for your playlist. Let the music begin.
