John Unveils “Dont Cry” Ahead Of His Afrobeats EP Release

John Tsenoli (John) is a 23 year-old singer/songwriter from Lekokoaneng in Lesotho. He moved to Johannesburg to pursue his music career a number of years ago, and has since signed a management deal with Mapogo Records.

His first single, Don’t Cry, is dropped last Friday 15th October on all streaming platforms, with an acoustic rendition performed by John on “The Wooden Stool” having been released on Tuesday 12th October on YouTube.

According to John, the song is like a confession. “It tells the story of a time I was in a relationship with a girl that I wasn’t ready for. The song encapsulates the lessons that I learnt from this,” he went on to say.

The single is very minimalistic, bringing out John’s wide vocal range and it was recorded with live instruments. These features of the song, along with the story-telling lyrics help to evoke emotions in the listener.  His next project takes the form of an Afrobeats EP and will also be released before the end of the year.
