Days back, we reported that the South African musicians Zingah, DJ Sliqe and Nadia Nakai were working on a new number. Well, the number is out now, titled “Real Life.” If you missed the backstory, you might want to check it out here.
In retrospect, the wait for the song has been worth it. “Real Life” throws shards of real life your way, creating didactic moments that will resonate with you any day, anytime, anywhere. The song isn’t soppy, though.
The musical synergy among Nadia Nakai and his compatriots is pretty profound and their performance is a delight. Best believe, or pause a minute and find out right away by tapping the play button.
“Real Life,” a hip hop tune, will never stutter for an audience. The song drops just after Nadia Nakai’s studio session with Family Tree record label boss Cassper Nyovest. The pair “fought” in the studio (Nadia Nakai’s words) in creating a number for “Any Minute Now (AMN),” Cass’s imminent dedicatory album to his expected son with girlfriend Thobeka Majozi.
