Soa Mattrix and pal DJ Maphorisa link up for a song titled “Gogo Wami,” which you can stream here on UbeToo, South Africa’s premier music hub. The dong featured fellow South Africans Mashudu, Happy Jazzman and Tribal Soul.
Not exactly the biggest names out there, but the song is a winner on many counts. You only have to hear it out to appreciate its power.
The song is not one of one but part of a larger collaborative project between the two lad artiste: “Tintswalo” album, which is also available for streaming here on UbeToo. It marks a major collaborative break for DJ Maphorisqa, who’s been working mostly with Kabza De Small.
“Gogo Wami” is a song with a local charm. But then anyone conversant with South Africa and its peoples, as well as its sights and sounds, should have no trouble appreciating what one of the Scorpion Kings has released in collaboration with some of his pals.
Mashudu, Happy Jazzman and Tribal Soul are not exactly regular collaborators with Phori, but they surely blended well with him, creating a musical experience that is at once exciting and memorable. The pleasure is all yours. It’s just up to you to, you know, grab it.
