Abidoza goes “Higher” in a new song featuring his pal and associate Riky Ric. This song will easily get many peeps emotional because the guest artist is no longer on the material plane.
Sadly, Riky Rick of the “Boss Zonke” fame hanged himself in his studio on February 23 this year – allegedly resulting from a long and sporadic bout of depression. That tragic event provoked incredulity and shock in its wake.
Many wept. Some held concerts in the musician’s honour. And yet some used the late rapper’s image as their profile pictures. Of course, these gestures can’t bring back the late rapper, but they are testaments of the songster’s impact on his fans’ lives before his tragic departure.
Now, in a sense, Riky Rick lives again – in the new song on which he was featured. “Higher,” whether by design or accident, has notes of growth and optimism, and we doubt this number can take anyone through the morbid bends of depression.
On the contrary, “Higher” has the potential to take peeps into new orbits – far away from not just the drab but from the depressing as well. There is, after all, more to life. Thou shouldst be living at this hour, Riky!
