In a move that is as exciting as it is educating, 10 artistes, 2Baba, Ahmed Soultan, Amanda Black, Ben Pol, Betty G, Gigi Lamayne, Prodigio, Stanley Enow, Teni, & Yemi Alade, have linked up for a new song titled “Stand Together.”

The creation of the song was at the instance of ONE, MTV Base and the Mandela Foundation. The idea is to create massive awareness about the COVID-19 pandemic, which has arrested much of the world’s advancement for several months.

The pandemic has provoked control measures around the world, including lockdowns. The music industry is particularly affected by the lockdown measures spawned by the pandemic. So, in a sense, in creating awareness about the virus, artistes are also opening the paths to normarlcy for everyone: knowledge and mass sensitization can limit the spread of the virus and ultimately defeat it.

“Stand Together” is particularly significant in that, bringing together artistes of disparate nationalities, the song accentuates the criticality of the problem and the vitality of rooting it out — and quickly, too.

If you have to listen to only one song this week and even this month, make it “Stand Together,” for this song quickens your appreciation of life and the raptures of brotherhood. There is one life and no one knows the hour of its termination.

“Stand Together,” Africa!
