We may have passed the era of Distruction Boyz, but Goldmax, one of the gqom band’s members, is still “distroying” things. You only have to listen to his song “Mkhuleko Womama,” a collaborative work with Blvckbird, to see just how.
Distruction Boyz buzzed across southern Africa for a long time until it became public that the two artistes that made up the group, Que and Goldmax, had decided to pursue solo careers. Goldmax’s first solo single was titled “Iphupho Lami.”
The champ hasn’t looked back. “Mkhuleko Womama” is taken from “Music Saved My Life,” his first debut album as a solo artiste, that body of work has a lean tracklist but fairly interesting numbers. The track in review should give you an idea of the other numbers on the tracklist
“Mkhuleko Womama” is a soul charmer and one that might get you into an exuberant mood. Not bad, really. Wouldn’t you rather pause a minute and let Goldmax and Blvckbird treat you to a little of their musical gifts?
