Kabza De Small is back to doing what he loves best, dropping amapiano jam. His latest drop is titled “My Dali” and features fellow South Africans Bontle Smith, Nkosazana Daughter, and Sir Trill.
Fondly called the amapiano king, a title he’s only too happy to appropriate, the lead singer has been dropping stuff in the yanos genre for as long as one can remember. He was already producing at a time many lacked confidence the gene would break into the mainstream.
In retrospect, he was prescient. Amapiano is not just the major genre in South Africa at the moment, it has been swallowing artists from other genres as well – from hip hop to house to dance and electronic.
The guest artists, Bontle Smith, Nkosazana Daughter and Sir Trill, are themselves makers of good and their contribution to the song in review is not in doubt.
Bontle Smith appears to have slowed down a bit in her releases. The preference at the moment appears to be ancillary vocals for other musos. The same might be said for Nkosazana Daughter.
Sir Trill is the exception. He’s the “Ghost” you can see. Oh, go ahead and vibe with what he’s just released in collaboration with his pals.
