Long after he promised an extended play titled “Diego” and partially revealed some of the guests on the tracklist, Mzansi singer Mampintsha has finally released the body of work.
As a title, “Diego” EP instantly brings to mind a celebrated Argentine footballer (now late). But this is not about him. You get to have a splendid musical experience with the compilation anyway.
“Diego” EP bears six tracks in all and features Mampintsha’s associated in the music industry in Mzansi, including DJ Tira, Amaroto, Beast, Big Nuz, Professor, Dladla Mshunqisi, Babes Wodumo, Worst Behaviour, General C’mamane, Madanon, and Blaq Rhythm.
It would have been a big puzzle if Babes Wodumo had not made the guest list. She’s a wife to Mampintsha, and even before they got married, they have been featuring each other back to back.
Well, the new body of work “Diego” bears that infectious energy that is almost traditional with Mampintsha.
It may have been a while since he released an EP, but at least the West Ink boss shows that he’s still got what it takes to snap the attention of the listening public. “Diego” may not be a compilation to die for, but it’s certainly worth preserving on a playlist.
