You might feel a revolution in your head listening to Msaki’s latest number “Blood Guns and Revolutions,” which is available right here at UbeToo.

In a sense, it is promise made and promise fulfilled for the South African singer, who had promised to tell her own tale of the Marikana Massacre of 2012, said to be the most lethal use of force by South African security forces since 1976.

At the end of it all, on 16 August 2012, about 10 persons lay dead. Msaki, of the “Rainbow” song of hope fame, brilliantly memorializes that occasion with her new song. 2020 marks the 8th anniversary of the massacre.

To listen to Msaki’s “Blood Guns and Revolutions” is to relive that bloody occasion all over again. It’s hard not to get emotional vibing with Msaki’s latest number. May we make this an hour of solemnity? Indeed, the dead cannot be brought back to life, but much can be learned from this bloody bend in our history. Are the security forces listening?
