South African musician okmalumkoolkat recently released an album titled “UShukela Etiyeni,” from which “Came With The Sjambok” is taken.
In releasing that compilation, the songster noted that the goal was to grow with his audience. There’s nothing to fault in that goal — or, should we say, dream. How well he comes to achieving that is a different ball game altogether. But that’s by the way.
What’s not in doubt right now is that Okmalumkoolkat has got a winner in “Came With The Sjambok,” an exciting number that may not exactly turn out a part anthem but will still easily charm music lovers out there.
With this song, it’s easy to spot a craftsman at peace with himself and his gift and eager to share some magical moments with his fans.
“Came With The Sjambok” may not be the finest from Okmalumkoolkat yet, but it’s still a song to listen to and share as well.
And for those who are not familiar with the man and his work, this song should easily motivate them to check out what he has been up to before his latest album. Not bad, we should say.
