South African singer Pabi Cooper plays with her name in a new project titled “Cooperville” EP, which you can stream here on UbeToo, your go-to place for all things South African music and entertainment.
In a post on her verified Instagram page in the first week of September, she shared the cover art of the song and the tracklist and announced when fans should expect the project. It came as promised.
The extended play bears seven tracks in all, beginning with an “Intro” and ending with “Banyana ke Bafana.” Tied between those are songs like “Egoli,” “2000,” “Sabela,” “Angeke,” and “Mama.”
Interestingly, there is not a song on the compilation without a guest. Blxckie, Yumbs, Ch’cco, Crush, Murumba Pitch, Sfarzo Rtee, Kammu Dee, Mzu M, Liebah, Khanyisa, Ntokzin, LuuDaDeejay, Nobantu Vilakazi, and Focalistic.
It’s unclear why Pabi Cooper decided to have guests on all the songs. Left to us, though, we would have loved to see her hold court alone in at least one song.
Anyway, she did put together an intriguing body of work, and the artists she adopted for the project bring aspects of themselves and their creative energies into one sumptuous whole. So, you can rest assured you’re in for a good time with this body of work.
