Rafiki might have pulled off a musical coup with “Domba (Main Mix),” having musos Gaba Cannal, DJ Maphorisa & Celimpilo on the number.
It’s an all-star cast. Fortunately the stars did glitter on the number. Gaba Cannal, a celebrated disc jockey and producer, is unarguably one of the finest in the game. Call him a fine musician with a fine mind and you’re just on point. The amapiano star has treated us to several sterling projects already, including “Amapiano Legacy.”
DJ Maphorisa? The luxury-loving muso is himself a notable musical figure. The champ has dropped numbers in almost every genre imaginable but is now content churning out amapiano hits, most times in collaboration with his friend Kabza De Small.
By the way, “Domba (Main Mix)” as a song has had several manifestations. It has been released as a vocal and as an instrumental, each featuring Uhuru. Electing to release the main mix of the song, and opting for the troika of Gaba Cannal, DJ Maphorisa and Celimpilo, was an ambitious move and one that actually paid off.
