Reece Madlisa and Zuma are yet in the mood to entertain. This much should be obvious from “Ama Roto,” a song for which they tapped the vocal resources of Deepxplosion, Lungstar, Bob Mabena and Stillow.
The song is part of the two lead artistes’ joint project of the same title. The compilation features some key names in piano music in South Africa, including DJ Maphorisa and Busta 929.
The other guests are staring at you in the song in review. Deepxplosion causes no explosion as we know it, but delivers fine jams each time. Lungstar is “lung star” only in that the musician is rarely guilty of bad verses…
In Bob Mabena you have another fine artiste and one who has been high in demand recently. And Stillow? This muso isn’t going to make you still with his music. On the contrary, you only experience exuberant breaks with him.
“Ama Roto” is the song of the moment. You might not understand the reason for the verdict until you listen to it… and you find yourself listening again. And again. It rings like something for the piano crowd, all right, but anyone who loves music and a good time should check it out.
