Today, Intel posted that its profits had cascaded a frightening 90% fourth quarter this year. Even with huge sales of the Atom for new netbooks and more notebook growth, Intel is pointing the finger at the uncertain economic climate which is prompting more conservative spending by consumers.
Intel made a mere $236 million in 4Q 2008, compared to the huge numbers they pulled in 4Q 2007: $2.3 billion. Fourth quarter wasn’t the only bad time for Intel as the sales plummeted the whole year. In fact, the $2.3 billion Intel made in 2007 is almost half of the $5.3 billion it made in all of 2008.
