Is the demand for netbooks finally starting to drop? Shipments of processors and netbooks are in fact slowing down, according to DisplaySearch, a market research firm.
The economy seems to have been a significant factor in the previous increase in netbook-buying trends in 2007, 2008, and 2009. Netbooks, which are cheaper (and more convenient) alternatives to laptops and desktops, have gained a strong following, especially with consumers who are price-conscious and would rather spend less on a machine that does the most basic of computerized tasks. Now though, because of the falling prices in laptop technology, netbook sales may decrease even more, since laptops are more powerful machines.
