Virgin Media is announcing a new netbook named ‘Freedom’, to be available for free with any of its various two-year broadband packages. A similar plan was recently announced by Sprint, which may have inspired this new development.
The new netbook is optimized for 50 MB broadband and has a 10.2-inch display. Other features are standard – a 1.6 GHz Atom N270 CPU, 1 GB of RAM, a 120 GB HDD, Wi-Fi, a card reader, and a webcam. One major but unfortunately common flaw in netbooks is 3-cell batteries, good for about 2.5 hrs of use, and the Virgin Freedom netbook doesn’t amend that.
The Freedom comes in – ahem – ‘Virgin Red’ or black. It’s available now, so check it out.
