#10YearsOfAfrikanRoots: Excitement As Band Celebrates A Decade Of Making House Music

A couple of days from now. South Africans would gather at the Opera Theatre to celebrate ten years of Afrikan Sound by African Roots.

Ten years is no short time for a band, whether of South African origin or elsewhere. As a matter of fact, most bands don’t make it to ten years before disintegrating, with each band member going solo.

The group has been silent for a while. But then, as one fan had observed, Afrikan Roots is more like a sleeping giant that’s now rising from its slumber.

Ashifa Ashabba will be on the ground as the MC of the occasion. Tickets are already available at Web Tickets and Pick N Pay. A general ticket goes for R150. For a VIP ticket, you will have to fork over R250.

African Roots is one of the truly memorable house bands from South Africa. And the excitement over their imminent show is best imagined. It remains to be seen if the group will put up a performance worthy of the excitement they have already generated.
