The nomination list for the 2022 BET Hip Hop Awards has been released, and it turned out Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Kanye West are leading the pack.
Should that be surprising? Maybe not—at least, all three are actually distinguished as rappers and have got hot James to their names.
Drake is top on the list, with an impressive 14 nominations, including for hip hop album of the year, hip hop artist of the year, and hustler of the year.
Kanye West comes second, with ten nominations. He was nominated in most of what Drake was nominated for, including hustler of the year.
For his part, Kendrick Lamar, who recently stunned the music universe with a new album after a long time of not sharing anything, was nominated in nine categories, including video director of the year and hip hop album of the year.
Of course, a nomination is not a guarantee of a win. But having multiple nominations increases the odds of winning. So it is easy to bet each will go home with at least one award.
The 17th annual BET Hip Hop Awards takes place on October 14, with Fat Joe as host. It will air on the BET network.
