2023: Atiku Might Pick Emeka Ihedioha

After a keenly contested presidential primary, Atiku Abubakar had emerged as the presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party, defeating his biggest rival, Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

But who would be his vice president on the ballot?

Most fingers are pointing in the direction of former Imo state governor Emeka Ihedioha. The former governor, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, was sacked from office and Hope Uzodinma of the APC was ruled as his replacement.

The dust of his sacking has since settled. Now, what appeared to be a tragedy back then, May turn out to be a blessing in disguise as Emeka Ihedioha might emerge with a more significant portfolio should he be picked by Atiku and should the PDP emerge victorious next year.

By the way, Atiku hasn’t made a selection yet. There’s serious politicking currently going on. And some are even suggesting he might pick Nyesom Wike, who has more political clout than Ihedioha.

Anyway, whoever Atiku might pick ultimately still has a lot of work to do to unseat the ruling APC.

In Nigeria, where votes rarely count given the massive corruption in the system, unseating a ruling party or incumbent is no easy task. Will there be a big upset in 2023?
