Every other week, South African radio station 5FM releases a list of the hottest artists on th hip-hop charts on the Rainbow Nation. Of course, it feels good to be part of the list, but not all big-name artists usually make it there.
Anyway, the list for this week has just been released, showing five songs as the top in South African hip hop. Apparently, the choice of only the top five stems in part from a desire to align the number with the name of the station.
Well, this week’s top five had “Crown” at No. 1. The song was a collaborative effort between Emtee, AKA and Manana. Sadly, one of them, AKA, was assassinated on February 10 last year.
At No. 2 was “Sana Lwami 2.0,” a song by DJ Killa Mo, featuring Tellaman. Dan Dummy holds the third sport with his track “In My Head.” In the 4th position was The Big Hash, with his scorcher “Eight Summers.”
The 5th and final position went to Nasty C and Maeto, with their song “See Me Now.”
Making it to the list depends on a couple of factors, including airtime. It will be interesting to see if those who made the list this weel will also make it next week.
