It wasn’t a good day for actress Zara Phythian, 27, and her martial arts instructor husband, Victor Mark, as both were convicted of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old.
Zara, who had played Brunette Zealot in the 2916 film Doctor Strange, was found guilty of 14 sexual offences, and her husband was found guilty of 18 sexual crimes. The couple had abused the minor together at some point, according to the court.
Mark stood out in the case because, apart from abusing the 13-year-old girl, he was also found guilty of abusing a 15-year-old from 2002 to 2003.
While not denying assaulting the first minor, Mark claimed that the encounter only happened once and that his wife wasn’t involved.
But the court wasn’t convinced. He was, therefore, convicted of indecently assaulting a child and having sexual activity with a child. Phythian was convicted on a similar charge: having sexual activity with a child.
Although the couple got married in 2015, prosecutors established that they were already abusing the child before then.
After the verdict, the court ordered that the couple be remanded in custody until May 16 for sentencing.
With this verdict, the couple joins an interesting list of couples who have been convicted of sexual activity with a minor.
