There are scams and there are scams. But certainly not hurts as much as being scammed by a close friend – someone in whom one must have reposed absolute trust. This is the situation South African actor Skhumbuzo Mbatha has found himself in at the moment.
The thespian recently admitted to being scammed by a close friend and even spoke about retaliating the way he sees fit.
In a recent chat with Zimoja, he claimed that Buti Mthembu, whom he considered a close friend, duped him of the sum of R15k. By his own account, Buti had promised him a share in a lucrative mining deal, and he had forked over R15 to be a part of the deal.
He neither got any shares nor his money back. Instead, Buti fled with his money and has been in hiding since. Exasperated with the situation, he had gone public about the scam, naming and shaming.
Skhumbuzo Mbatha also claimed that he is not the only victim of Buti’s scammy ways. He revealed that buti operates in the South West region of South Africa and has a long list of victims. Buti, he insisted ruined his life, and he can ruin him, too. He didn’t say how though.
