Assault is part of the spectre of gender-based violence, something South Africa contends with every other day. So there is usually great interest when a case of assault is registered.
Such is the seriousness of the issue that people are more likely to believe the accuser (if she is female) than the accused.
Well, South African actor Xolani Mayekiso would say he has suffered a similar fate at the hands of a lady. But he is certainly chuffed now that the case has been dropped.
His accuser, Shika Ndhundhuma, claimed that the two of them were in a car after the Springbok final and that although they were not kissing, he “forced my pants after I begged him not to.”
She claimed that there were witnesses to the incident but the case was still dismissed. So she is currently fumily over it all.
For his part, Xolani is happy that is has been “vindicated.” It turned out that his fans were just as happy about the verdict. Not content with it, some of them are talking of coming together to sue the lady who had “falsely” accused him of assault.
It remains to be seen if anything will come out of this. Stay tuned.
