After decades in the movie scene, Raquel Welch’s odyssey came to an end. The celebrated actress died after a brief illness, according to a statement from a rep. She was 82.
Raquel was born in Chicago and initially started her career as a weather forecaster at a local station called KFMB. But the lure of acting was way too much to resist and she delved into the acting universe along the line.
It would be a vitally important decision and one that would elevate her in the coming years. She had featured in the TV shows Bewitched, McHale’s Navy, and The Virginian, as well as sci-fi flicks like Fantastic Voyage and One Million Years B.C.
Of all her features, though, One Million Years B.C. happens to be among the most popular. In fact, it is one flick that many of her fans are most likely to reference her by – even in death.
She might have been 82 when death intruded, but some of her fans are still pretty surprised she should go. As far as some of them are concerned, she still has a lot to offer to the film world. Anyway, death has other ideas, and now the ground is wet with mourning.
